Next edition of IREIS to be 50 percent bigger

2007 edition ends on a positive note

Abu Dhabi, 25th March, 2007

Organisers of IREIS 2007, the 3rd edition of the Abu Dhabi Real Estate & Investment Show which ended yesterday at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, expect next year’s edition to increase in size by at least 50 percent.

“Based on feedback from exhibitors at the 2007 edition who have committed to return as well as other enquiries we have received for next year, we expect IREIS 2008 to be held in February 2008 to cover an area of approximately 9,000 square metres” said Antoine Georges, Director of Dome Exhibitions, the organizers of the show.

IREIS 2007 took place 21st to 24th March under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council. 52 exhibitors participated at the show which occupied an area of over 6,500 square metres, marking a 100 percent increase over exhibit space from the previous edition in 2006.

“Exhibitors and visitors have been appreciative of the show’s format as IREIS as is targeted at the final consumer rather than at trade visitors. We received over 6,500 visitors this year who were at the exhibition to evaluate the options on offer and make property purchases” noted Antoine.

“Exhibitions provide a mirror to the sector that they focus on and IREIS is the ideal window to the booming real estate market in Abu Dhabi in particular as well as elsewhere in the UAE”.

Since mid-2004 projects with a total value of more than AED 380 billion have been announced in Abu Dhabi. These include The Quay, Yas Island, Saadiyat island, Al Raha Beach, Danet Abu Dhabi, Najmat Abu Dhabi, Shams Abu Dhabi and Capital Centre.

According to the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Abu Dhabi will see AED 500 billion being pumped into real estate investments and the emirate’s construction and real estate investments are expected to contribute AED 40 billion to the emirate's GDP in 2007.

The exhibitors at IREIS 2007 included master developers such as Sorouh Real Estate, Al Qudra, Tamouh Investments, Falcon City of Wonders and Manazil Real Estate, property development companies such as Profile Group Properties, Hydra Properties, Aztec Propeties, real estate agents MAS Real Estate, Sherwoods, Vista Real Estate and Royal House Real Estate. ADCB and First Gulf Bank presented their range of real estate financing packages.

Sorouh Real Estate, Profile Properties, Al Rayan Investments, ADCB and First Gulf Bank were the show's main sponsors.

“For a project that is in an initial phase, we are delighted at the response and fully anticipate that the level of interest that we have generated will continue” said
Jane Woods, Business Development Director of LLJ Property, the exclusive sales agents for Mangrove Place.

Mohamed Abdel Kader, Branch Manager, Habiba Real Estate, noted that the Abu Dhabi market held out promising potential and the company received several enquiries at their stand. “I am pleased to see the turnout of visitors as well as the actual sales that have resulted”, he said.

Abdullah Ali, Sales and Marketing Manager, QP International, an Al Qudra company said: “There was a large turn out of visitors in the evening hours and we received several enquiries about our recently launched Eye of the Emirates project”.

IREIS 2007 occupies an area of over 6,500 square metres and in line with the vibrancy in the UAE capital’s real estate environment, the show has doubled in terms of exhibit space from last year’s edition.
